TAROS is the successor to the Towards Intelligent Mobile Robotics (TIMR) conference series. The name was changed at TIMR03 to reflect the diversity of interests in robotics research in the UK.

TAROS-05 is sponsored by Biro-Net and Springer, London, with funding support from EPSRC. TAROS-05 also thanks the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London and the Intelligent Systems and Networks group within that department for their generous support and assistance.
